Djodjo is a survivor of a large illegal network. He spent 3 days in a wooden crate, without light, before being taken in by Akatia. When he arrived, he wasn't reacting and was letting himself die. Today, he's a real whirlwind of life! He climbs from tree to tree and loves dropping branches on the caregivers' heads as if nothing happened!

Those barbed wires you see in the photos? Those are the traps used by illegal hunters in the forest. Through close collaboration, the Special Surveillance Brigade teams of the Ministry of Water and Forests were able to seize over 200 traps in 2023, preventing the destruction of wildlife.

Seized by authorities, Coco suffered the worst atrocities — probably at the hands of expatriates who used him as a pet before abandoning him. Beaten, terrified and with a broken leg, he arrived at the Yapo-Abbé camp in shock. After extensive rehabilitation work, Coco no longer goes out into the bush. He continues his rehabilitation at the rescue centre, surrounded by his caregivers.

On May 2, 2023, Jules was seized in Guiglo. The illegal holder was showing him on social media dressed as a human, drinking soda. Jules was so malnourished that he's the size of a 2-year-old chimpanzee, half his actual age. He still bears the marks of the iron chain. Thanks to Eagle Network and the Ministry, Jules is now discovering life in the forest.
